Alfred Charles Drouillard
1888 ~ 1967
This page and the linked pages following contain all of the information given to me in 1965 by my grandfather, Capt. Alfred Charles Drouillard. I was thirteen that year and I received a school assignment to write a biography of a person that I knew and admired. I chose my Grampa. Up until that time I had little knowledge of the amazing life he had led.
His writing, as you will see in the following scanned pages, tells his story. Before he had even turned fifteen Alfred began working on boats of the Great Lakes supporting a widowed mother and his four younger siblings still at home. His family history and the 53 years he spent on the lakes are contained in a mere thirty-seven pages of hand written text. I have included his writings and some photographs he sent me as well. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into the life of
Captain A. C. Drouillard.
